Activation Capital Member Takes Home Top Prize at Regional Pitch Competition

Perfusion Medical, a member of Activation Capital, won the pitch competition at the BioHealth Capital Region Forum. Known as the “Crab Trap” the pitch competition took place as part of the annual event that brought together nearly 1,000 government officials, academic leaders, and industry executives from Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Perfusion Medical earned this honor for its work on PM-208, a novel therapy designed to reestablish blood flow and oxygen delivery in critical care patients. PM-208 targets the “no re-flow phenomenon,” a complication that can occur following severe blood loss, ischemia, or acute kidney injury. As the first prize winners, the Perfusion team received a $10,000 cash award and $25,000 in services.

“Perfusion Medical is extremely proud to be part of Virginia’s extraordinary biotech innovation community and appreciates the incredible support received over many years,” said CEO Gerard Eldering. “Along with our colleagues at Virginia Commonwealth University, who invented this amazing drug, we remain deeply committed to developing lifesaving, acute cardiovascular therapies for shock and critical ischemic conditions.”
