Sparks were indeed flying at the BioSpark pitch event recently held at CvilleBioHub. SalivIQ, a former participant in Activation Capital’s pre-accelerator program Start-the Journey, presented their Strep A diagnostic test. Strep A is the only saliva-based test for strep throat infections, eliminating the need for follow-up throat cultures and allowing for antibiotics to be prescribed appropriately.

Perfusion Medical, a member of Activation Capital, won the pitch competition at the BioHealth Capital Region Forum. Known as the “Crab Trap” the pitch competition took place as part of the annual event that brought together nearly 1,000 government officials, academic leaders, and industry executives from Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

The Virginia Biotechnology Research Partnership Authority (doing business as Activation Capital) announced today that it has appointed Michael Steele as president and chief executive officer.
