Creation of the Alliance for Building Better Medicine

A coalition of public and private sector partners, led by Activation Capital, has formed to fast-track development of an advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing cluster in central Virginia with $450M capital investment in Petersburg campus to date.

The Alliance for Building Better Medicine has identified the top priorities critical to the cluster’s success, including building infrastructure, workforce, and supply chain capacity to actualize its full potential.

Activation Capital is leading the coalition and to date has been awarded $2.5M from GO Virginia  to stand up a “cluster accelerator” and $500,000 from the EDA.  The Coalition is in the running for $100M from EDA – a once-in-a-generation, transformational opportunity.

Leadership and Members

To make our transformative vision possible, our alliance is delivering a new approach for launching and scaling industry clusters to include, though not limited to, an accelerator model that covers over 17 cities and counties in Central Virginia, a campus for advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing, and a globally competitive ecosystem focused on manufacturing critically important, affordable medicines within the United States.
