Innovative Small Molecule Therapy for Acute Lung Injury

KeViRx is transforming patient care for acute lung injury (ALI) through the development of innovative small molecule drugs. ALI is quite common, and is caused by viral diseases, like influenza and COVID, bacteria, and inhaled chemicals, like chlorine gas. The current standard of care involves steroid treatment or mechanical ventilation, which can further damage lungs, without addressing the root cause of the disease. KeViRx’s small molecules heal underlying lung damage and restore lung function by regenerating lung cell connections and blocking inflammation. KeViRx’s lead asset is effective in viral, bacterial, and chemical preclinical models of ALI and is advancing toward the clinic.

KeViRx’s lead compound, KVX-053, is an innovative new drug designed to help repair the damaged endothelial lining within blood vessels after an injury. KVX-053 is given intravenously and is intended for ICU patients who are dealing with severe breathing issues. Unlike other treatments that focus on targeting specific pathogens or harmful substances, KVX-053 works by healing lung injury and restoring lung function. KVX-053 will help patients recover faster, shorten ICU stays and lessen the reliance on mechanical ventilation.
