Two New Appointees Bring Technology, Growth, and Transformation Expertise to Build Upon the Authority’s Thriving Innovation Ecosystem
RICHMOND, Va., November 13, 2024 – Activation Capital, an innovation ecosystem development organization, today announced Governor Glenn Youngkin’s appointment of Brian Anderson and Barrett E. Clark to the board of the Virginia Biotechnology Research Partnership Authority (dba Activation Capital). As a political subdivision of the Commonwealth, the Authority Board manages the assets of Activation Capital and collaborates with its leadership to grow the regional innovation economy. The new appointments will further strengthen the organization’s strategies to bolster the number of tech ventures scaling in the region and accelerate innovation in life sciences and technology.

In September 2019, Brian Anderson was appointed president and CEO of ChamberRVA, a regional chamber of commerce representing the Greater Richmond region. Prior to coming to Virginia, Anderson served as the president and CEO of the Greater Columbus GA Chamber of Commerce from 2015–2019. He began his chamber career at the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce in 2008 and served seven years in that capacity. Anderson earned his Institute of Organizational Management certification from the U.S. Chamber in 2012. Before becoming a chamber of commerce professional, he served four years in the U.S. Army as a Military Intelligence Officer, and eighteen years in the beverage industry with both Coca-Cola and Anheuser-Busch. He also served as the elected chairman of the Whitfield County, Georgia Board of Commissioners from 2005–2008.
Joining Anderson on the Virginia Biotechnology Research Partnership Authority Board, Barrett E. Clark will bring extensive experience as Vice President of Health System Services at Centauri Health Solutions, where he supports technology, growth strategy, and revenue cycle solutions for providers and hospitals. Centauri acquired Ivy Ventures, where Barrett was a Partner. Prior to joining Ivy Ventures, Barrett was part of the FP&A group at Wachovia Securities, received a Bachelor of Science in Investment Finance in 2007 from Virginia Tech, and served as CEO of SEED.
